Update
Apple expands tools that help parents protect children and adolescents online
Included new ways to manage children’s accounts, ability to share the child’s age to gain experience with adequate age, updated age -in -store rating
Apple, continuation of its commitment to create technology that enriches the lives of users and helps them stay safe and protect their privacy, has shared today’s updating new ways to help protect children and adolescents online when using Apple products, including previous features. With iOS 26, iPados 26, MacOS Tahoe 26, Watchos 26, Visionos 26 and TVOS 26 this fall, parents have several ways to ensure that children have experience in a suitable age since they set up their facilities. These new tools build on parental inspections already available at the time of the screen and in the app store, and are designed to help parents go through the risks of an increasingly complex digital world. Like all Apple features, it builds with private and core security.
Administration of children’s niches simpler
For years, Apple has supported children’s accounts, an Apple account that must be associated with a parent or Guardian account in a family sharing group. Children’s account is required for children under 13 years of age1 AK available for children under 18 years of age to help parents ensure that their children have experience with age.
Apple has recently streamlined the setting process for children’s accounts and access to built -in parental inspections. If parents predict themselves to set the child’s birth later, settings suitable for children will still be enabled to the device. This helps to provide parents that setting up the safety of children will be active since their child begins to use the device. These functions are already available at iOS 18.4, iPados 18.4 and MacOS Sequoia 15.4.
Now parents have a way to ensure that age associated with their child’s account is properly established. As soon as they do, parents under the age of 13 will be asked to attach their child’s account with a family group. The account will be transferred to a children’s account and parents will have access to the wide set of Apple parental control with the default application settings for appropriate age.
Sharing the child’s age range with applications
Parents will now have the ability to share the age range of their child with the applications they use while protecting your child’s privacy. Through this new feature, parents can allow their children to share age ranges associated with a children’s account with application developers in a way that does not reveal the date of birth of the child and keeps it under control of their data. Application developers will be able to request this information through the new API declared age range to help them give their users experience. Parents can choose whether they would like age information to always, for each application for an application or never and can change their selection at any time. By default, children must not change the way of sharing their parts. Parents can make it possible to make changes to the content settings and limitation of personal data protection.
Importantly, with this update, families may have appropriate age experience in applications without collecting the App Store with unnecessary sensitive personal data on each user, even those who simply want to download applications that provide weather updates or sports scores.
Protection allowed from the beginning for adolescents
Apple requires that children under 13 years of age have a children’s account that comes with protection, such as web content filters and restrictions on applications allowed from the beginning.
Now children aged 13 to 17 will have similar protection allowed by appropriate age allowed from the beginning, regardless of whether their account was created as a children’s account or a standard Apple account. These additional protections include web content filters and communication safety and use the newly established detailed assessment of age in the App Store.
More rating of granulalar age in the App Store
Apple provides a long age rating for each app in the application store based on information provided by developers that help users make derived decisions on how appropriate this application may be for children. These age evaluation are integrated across Apple’s operating systems and work with parental control features such as screen time and ask for purchase.
By the end of the year, the age rating will be expanded to five categories, with three adolescents for adolescent support: 13+, 16+ and 18+. This gives users a more detailed understanding of the suitability of the application and developers a more accurate way of assessing their applications.
Safer communication for children
Communication limits have cleaned their parents’ ability to drive when their children can communicate with others and apply limits across the phone, facetime, messages and contacts of iCloud. It is now expanding to allow parents to play a loud role in apping with which their children can communicate with.
With this update, children must send applications to their parents when they want to communicate with new phone numbers. Parents can easily approve with a single click on messages and offer more comfort and control. When developers accept this new framework for permission, children can also get requests to their parents to make Kočili, users in third -party applications.
Further improvements for families
Apple also makes improvements in the App Store, security communication and screen time:
- App Store products will be reflected when developers indicate that their applications contain the user -generated content, sending messages or advertising skills, and if they include any content checks in the application such as parental control or age security.
- If the application limitation is set for the child, applications with age rating that exceed restrictions will not appear in the application store in places such as today’s, games and cards or editorial stories.
- When it is allowed to apply for the App Store, parents can now grant an exception for their child to download an app with an age rating that exceeds a set of application content limitation. Using the screen time on the iPhone or iPad, they can also cancel permission at any time and the child will not be able to use the application.
- The safety of communication is expanding to save on nudity, in advance in the FaceTime video calls, and to blur the Dutit in the shared allagus on photos in the photos.
